Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling for an expansion of the state’s bottle bill and a ban on plastic single-use bags used by grocery stores. The bottle bill expansion would add a five-cent deposit to most non-alcoholic drink containers including those for sports drinks, energy drinks, fruit and vegetable beverages and ready-to-drink teas and coffee. The Plastic Bag Ban applies just to point-of-sale bags also calls for a ten-cent fee for paper bags.
