A Chenango County man is headed to prison for the murder of his wife in 2012.

The jury in the murder trial of Ganesh Ramsaran took less than four hours to come to a decision September 23 after four weeks of testimony, including two days of last-minute arguments by Ramsaran himself.

Closing arguments were scheduled in the case for September 19, but the defendant decided to make a case in his own defense, which lasted two days.

Jennifer Ramsaran had supposedly told her husband that she was going to the mall in Syracuse to shop in December of 2012 and never came home.

Her body was found in February along the side of the road in Pharsalia.

Prosecutors say investigators began building a case against the woman's husband early as they received several reports that Ramsaran had a mistress.

Sentencing is set for October.

Ramsaran could be given a minimum of fifteen years to life in prison up to a maximum of 25 years to life.

There has been no official word as to if an appeal is planned.
