The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has announced some projects to fix damage from tropical storms Irene and Lee.

In Delware County the DEP will fix retaining walls and stream banks at Fleischmanns and Middletown. It will also grade off some floodplain areas to slow down future water problems. That project will cost about $1.3 million, and in Middletown, the DEP will add rock and structures called "rip-rap" on Dry Brook at the Arkville trailer park. Crews are expected to restore the creek there back to its pre-flood location. That project will cost just under a $500,000.

The two locations are part of 16 similar projects in the NYC watershed area with an overall price tag of $9 million.
