Bing Crosby's song "White Christmas" is the best selling recording in the world.  Penned by Irving Berlin, the holiday favorite by Der Bingle sold 50-million copies.  Add in the sales of every other singer who recorded it and the songs soars well over the 100-million mark.

The song debuted on December 25, 1941 on the radio show Kraft Music Hall.  Bing's song was an immediate hit, especially with the war clouds gather overseas. The song was included in the film Holiday Inn (Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and others) and was so popular it was nominated for and won the Oscar for Best Original Song (1942).

In 1999 National Public Radio ranked the Top 100 Songs of the 20th Century.  "White Christmas" came in at #2.  Email me at wdosbigchuck@aol.com if you want to know what was ranked #1......
