Unadilla Veterinary Clinic Ordered To Pay $90K In Back Wages
Last Thursday, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released the results of an investigation of Valley Veterinary Associates, 647 State Highway 7, in Unadilla, NY which was accused of not paying employees for overtime at a "time-and-a-half" pay rate which they were due. It was discovered that the employer only paid the regular hourly wage during employee overtime working hours.
In addition, the DOL uncovered employee working hour records that were inaccurate when it came to overtime hours work and compensation given to those employed there. Because of these infractions, the DOL has found Valley Veterinary Associates to be in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime and recordkeeping requirements.
As a result of the investigation and payroll findings, Valley Veterinary Associates will have to pay a total of $90,869.96 in back wages to 39 employees affected by the clinic's deficient payroll compensation practices.
The Department of Labor invites anyone employed who believes they are not getting paid wages they have earned by their employer, you can contact the Wage and Hour Division at the U.S. Department of Labor to report it at 1-866-4-US-WAGE.
