Unadilla Chamber Hosts 59th Annual Awards Banquet
The Unadilla Chamber of Commerce held its 59th annual dinner and awards night on Sunday, April 28. The banquet was held at the First United Methodist Church. At the dinner the Chamber presented its two most prestigious awards.
Dwight Mott is the proprietor of The Meeting Place coffee shop on Main Street Unadilla. The Meeting Place was named Unadilla Business of the Year. Dwight accepted the award and shared stories of his journey, or "adventure" as he called it, in opening up a casual place in the village for locals and passerby to stop for a cup of coffee or a sweet treat. The coffee shop is now one of the busiest places on Main Street and by all measures can be called a success and a great addition to the village.
George DeNys was celebrated with the "Commitment to Community Award." Speakers told of George's invaluable contributions to Unadilla both in formal and informal ways. George is a military veteran who is also a private pilot. He has flown people far and wide in search of organ transplants and also has flown dogs on shelter and rescue flights with his association with Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue group. George was elected as Unadilla Town Supervisor, a post he continues to hold.
Assemblyman Cliff Crouch attended the awards banquet and presented to Dwight Mott and George DeNys with legislative certificates of gratitude on behalf of himself and Sen. James Seward.
