This service for qualified persons, according to the United Way of Broome County, offers free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing.

The United Way of Delaware and Otsego County has brought back the Alan Donovan award to recognize outstanding community leaders from Otsego and Delaware counties.

The Chenango United Way fundraiser has entered the toughest part of this year’s campaign and is still facing a deficit.

Chenango County residents can now call 2-1-1 to inquire about non-emergency needs and services. The 2-1-1 call center is operated by United Way of Broome County and now serves Chenango, Broome and Tioga counties.

The United Way of Delaware/Otsego Counties has launched a two-county community food drive to address the issue of food insecurities locally. The United Way is seeking host sites for the food collection. Non-perishable items will then be distributed back to local feeding programs where it will be used to replenish local pantries.

The 2012 Chenango United Way campaign ends at noon today, after kicking off with the annual Day of Caring in late September. Elizabeth Monaco, Executive Director of Chenango United Way, says they had one of their best years.

The Chenango United Way campaign has less than a month left to meet its goal for the coming year. Co-chair of the United Way campaign Deb Barker announced recently that they are making strides toward their goal.

The Chenango United Way fall campaign is half over and co-chairman T.J. Moorehead says the residents of Chenango County always come through for the campaign, knowing how important it is to the many non-profit programs it supports.

The Chenango united way 2013 campaign is now into its 2nd full month and reports 14.5 % of its goal of 444,000 dollars has been reached. Charlie McMullen, board member of Chenango united way was interviewed Friday and said un ited way faces a crisis in supporting local food banks.
