I have been registered to vote since the moment I turned 18. My first vote was cast in 2004 for John Kerry. I remember having to trot down to the Board of Elections, pick up my voter registration form, fill it out, find a stamp, mail it in and wait for my voter card. That whole process is so much easier now, thanks to Rock the Vote.

The world is talking about Michelle Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night. Some columnists are calling it the most important speech by a First Lady in history. What the full speech:

Nearly 3,500 New Yorkers have used the new Department of Motor Vehicles online voter registration website since the Aug. 16 initiative, which streamlines DMV services by allowing New Yorkers to apply to register to vote, or update their address or party enrollment.
