Al Helfer – the man known as “Mr. Radio Baseball” – is the winner of the 2019 Baseball Hall of Fame Ford C. Frick Award. Helfer broadcasted games for 8 teams and was the voice of the Mutual Broadcasting System Game of the Day in the 1950s. He also was the announcer for five straight World Series, from 1951 to 1955, and for numerous All-Star Games. Helfer died in 1975.
