Albany, NY (WIBX) - To get kids buckling up in the car, the Governor's Traffic Safety Office is working with other state groups to host the "Sit-Click-Ride" poster contest.

In honor of "Child Passenger Safety Week," children ages 8 to 12 can create a hand-drawn poster on a piece of white 11"X8.5" paper, with a "Sit-Click-Ride" message on it.  They can then mail it to the GTSC in Albany, by December 14th.

Top prizes include an iPod, along with Kindle and Nook readers. Regional winners earn trophies and a spot on the 2013-14 "Sit-Click-Ride Traffic Safety Calendar." Winners will be announced in June 2013.

According to the agency, children wearing their seat belts in the back seat of a vehicle are 38 percent less likely to be injured in an accident.

The contest is presented with assistance from the state's Child Passenger Safety Advisory Board, Safe Kids Coalition and Department of Health.
