Sheriff Devlin Seeking Two School Resource Officers

Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin is proposing that the county fund two Deputy Sheriff Positions to be designated as School Resource Officers according to a statement on the Otsego County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Devlin says it’s important to enhance rapport with students, establish a larger presence in schools and to promote school safety. The SRO will assist each school’s administrators in their efforts toward security preparedness and prevention of incidents along with being a liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and school administrators to coordinate in-school Active Shooter Training. Devlin says this will be discussed further at the May Public Safety Meeting.
