Police Arrest Six After College Event Melee
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've charged six young men after fights broke out during a social event held by college students in Albany last weekend.
Albany police say officers were called to the Polish Community Center late Saturday night for a report of a disorderly crowd of about 700 people outside a gathering hosted by Groove Phi Groove, a social group associated with the University at Albany.
Police say a group was trying to push past the venue's security guards to get into the event. Albany police along with university officers dispersed the crowd outside, but fights began breaking out inside. The event was shut down and everyone was ordered to leave the building.
Police say several fights broke out in the parking lot before officers were able to disperse the crowds.
