The Ricky J. Parisian Pitrun is coming up October 6, 2013 and is celebrating its 20th Anniversary.

The Pitrun includes a sanctioned 10k race, 5k run, 2 mile stroll and a kid’s fun run. It's also a community celebration of Rick’s life and a local scholarship fundraiser, too. 

Ricky J. Parisian was killed on May 20, 1994, while attempting to stop an armed robbery in progress at grocery store in Oneonta. He was shopping with his wife Deb when the tragic event occurred.

Parisian confronted the robber after he ensured that customers and patrons were safe.  There was a scuffle between the two and Parisian was shot in the chest, which resulted in his death.

Parisian managed to pull off the robber's mask, which helped in identifying the man. The robber was caught and tried. Parisian's heroic efforts were a direct reason for the robber's eventual incarceration.

The delicious Pit Pasta Dinner sponsored by the Oneonta Lions Club on Saturday, October 5 from 4:30–8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, 70 River St. Tickets for adults are $7 each, kids 6 to 12 cost $4 each, and kids under 6 are free.
