Otsego County Woman Charged With Stealing Masks From Hospital

Otsego COunty Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. announces the arrest of a Town of Morris woman for the theft of medical supplies from Bassett Medical Center. The theft of critical medical resources is unacceptable and those identified will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Name: Josie D. Wright, 33 years old, Morris, NY

Charges: One Count: Petit Larceny– Class A Misdemeanor

Narrative: The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of the above named defendant for stealing face masks and alcohol prep pads from Bassett Medical Center. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office had been contacted by Bassett Security to assist in an investigation into the thefts of personal protective equipment from the hospital. During this investigation, it was learned that the defendant, a contracted employee at Bassett, had taken face masks from Bassett and was shipping the masks to another person.

The investigation is still on going as it was learned there may be other employees who have also taken PPE from the hospital and have shipped the items to other people. At this time it is unknown if the employees are profiting from their actions. The defendant was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Otsego Court.
