NYS Now Has Revenge Porn Law

New York now has a law criminalizing the publication of “revenge porn” which is the sharing or publication of an intimate image with the intent to cause harm to the emotional, financial, or physical welfare of another person. Sharing of an image unlawfully is now a Class A misdemeanor which subjects abusers to criminal penalties of up to a year in jail, plus civil damages, and empowers victims to seek a court order to remove these images online.
