NY State Cashless Tolling Officially Starts This Weekend
Leave your cash at home if you’re taking the New York State Thruway because cashless tolling officially goes into effect at all 58 ticketing stations according to Governor Cuomo's Office. That means if you don’t have an E-Z Pass you will get a bill from the Thruway Authority which has a 30% increase over the E-Z pass rate plus a $2 surcharge. It also means the end of employment for toll booth collectors and for the paper tolling tickets that began being handed out in the mid-1950's.
