The Chenango County ARC has struggled for several years to integrate the housing options of its clients. The effort has culminated in the Norwich Shoe apartments being approved for funding.

The Norwich Shoe apartments is a $7 million, 34 unit family rental project financed by a federal low income housing tax credit and $2.4 million NYS housing trust fund loan.

The project calls for the demolition of four derelict properties and construction of four two-bedroom townhouses. The remaining 30 units will be built on vacant land immediately adjacent to the city of Norwich business district.

A late summer groundbreaking is anticipated.
