During the cold winter months in Upstate New York, there is nothing more wonderful then to walk into a local restaurant or maybe a neighborhood tavern with some friends and catch that unmistakable aroma of a cracking wood fire in the room.

Nobody does a restaurant or bar with a fireplace in it quite like Upstate New York does.  And this gallery looks at a small selection of some of the best.

The fireplaces come in all sizes and shapes.  You will see smaller ones, in a hotel lobby, just perfect to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine with.  Some of the others in this gallery are truly showstoppers!  Big, stone and rock handmade fireplaces that take up the better part of a room.  Awesome.  We also included a fire pit or two.  They really add to the "cool factor" of any bar patio or deck.

So when the urge comes to you to head out into the snow for a meal or a friendly get-together we hope you will keep these places with fireplaces in mind.  And of course, with the Adirondacks being, well, um, the Adirondacks, surely there are a dozen more we could have added to this list.

So, if your favorite fireplace hang out didn't make it here, we encourage you to give it a shout out over on our Facebook page.  And if you do, send a photograph of it!

Fireplace and Fire Pit Coziness in These 10 Adirondack Restaurants

Nobody does a restaurant or tavern with a crackling wintertime fireplace than those types of places in the Adirondacks and the North Country. Here are a dozen great ones. Each has a roaring fire in the dining room or another part of the property ready to warm you up against the ADK chill. We even through in a firepit. These are comfy for sure. Some of them are small, and perfect for a couple of easy chairs and a cocktail to enjoy. Others are huge, hand laid stone works of art. All are calling you!

Schoharie County Loves Their Breweries, Cideries, Distilleries, and Wineries!!

There must be something in the water out in Schoharie County. This large sprawling county has barely 30,000 people in it total. In fact it is the 5th least populated county of all the 62 in New York. But percentage wise it has a large variety of breweries, cideries, distilleries, and wineries from which to stop at and "enjoy the view." This is a list of 8 such places. You will find these venues on hilltops, along waterways, near one of the most famous natural attractions in the Empire State, and one in the heart of one of the county's largest communities. And these places are no small shake. In fact on this list your will find a small brewery, located high up "in the clouds" that was named the best New York State Craft Brewery in 2023. In all the state! Awesome. So what is it about the water, Schoharie County. (PS: You will note that I included a brewery just outside of Schoharie County on this list. But, it is so close you can drive there before three tunes play on your radio!).
