On Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul updated New Yorkers on the state's progress combating COVID-19. Hochul confirmed 83.8 percent of all New Yorkers 18 and older have received at least one vaccine while 75.2 percent have completed their vaccine series. 71 percent of all eligible New Yorkers have at least one vaccine dose.
"New Yorkers are still getting infected with COVID-19 every day, and the key to ending this pandemic for good is to increase our vaccination rate," Governor Hochul said. "We're moving mountains to get the vaccine into our communities—particularly those that have low vaccination rates—and to the 12 to 17 age group. However, every eligible New Yorker should take the vaccine, and that's how we'll restore our state's economy to full strength and build prosperity for everyone
Hochul reported 31 more New Yorkers died from COVID bringing the total deaths reported from COVID in New York to 56,674. 241 New Yorkers were admitted to the hospital. 2,363 New Yorkers are currently hospitalized with COVID with 568 in ICU and 311 in ICU with intubation.
