These Hudson River Towns and Villages Offer Spectacular Views!
The Hudson River is one of New York State's greatest treasures. It meanders down and out of the Adirondacks (Lake Tear of the Clouds) to New York City. The waterway is about 300 miles long.
From Albany south, the Hudson Valley offers many small towns and villages which wholeheartedly embrace their "lucky location" on this magnificent river. There are more historic sites along the way than you can shake a Rip Van Winkle tree branch at. From President Franklin D. Roosevelt's river-hugging palatial estate (and final resting place) in Hyde park, to the formidable cliff fortress known as West Point, there is something amazing to see around every corner of the route.
This gallery offers up a short selection of some hamlets, villages, towns, and even a small city or two which all have one thing in common. They offer up spectacular Hudson River backdrops to this lovely little locales.
We know there are many other "special places" along the Hudson River than those here. We include Athens, Catskill, Kingston, Cold Spring, and others. But if your favorite Hudson River viewing place is not on our list, please give that town or village a shout out over on our Facebook page. We really do want to hear from you.
And here is to you, oh mighty Hudson River, "America's Rhine." We encourage all of our readers to take a road trip here this summer (or anytime).
