Nationally-recognized poet Frank X Walker will read selections from his work Tuesday, May 9, 6:30 p.m. in Centennial Center, Sanford Hall on the SUNY Delhi campus. He will greet participants and sign books following the presentation. Before the reading, Walker will spend the afternoon meeting and talking with Delhi students, faculty, and staff.

Former Kentucky Poet Laureate, Frank X Walker is a professor in the Department of English and the African American and Africana Studies Program at the University of Kentucky and the founding editor of Pluck! The Journal of Affrilachian Arts & Culture. A Cave Canem Fellow and co-founder of the Affrilachian Poets, he is the author of eight collections of poetry including, Turn Me Loose: The Unghosting of Medgar Evers, winner of the 2014 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Poetry; and Buffalo Dance: The Journey of York, winner of the Lillian Smith Book Award as well as two new collections, The Affrilachian Sonnets and About Flight. He was the poet laureate of Kentucky 2013-2014, and in 2014, he won an NAACP Image Award for his work as an artist activist.

The event is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, a Diversity and Inclusion Grant, and the College Association at Delhi (CADI).
