Mother Sentenced to Shock Incarceration for Covering Up Son’s Death
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — Jennie Mattison, who admitted helping cover up the killing of her 5-year-old son, has been sentenced to 1 to 3 years in a shock incarceration program.
Local media outlets report 24-year-old Mattison of Glens Falls was sentenced Thursday in Washington County Court, where she had pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution for initially lying about how Gary Carpenter was injured before he died on Nov. 16.
Prosecutors said the child was abused for weeks as punishment by 24-year-old Brandon Warrington and died of a massive head injury.
Warrington is serving 25 years to life in prison after being convicted of murder, manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.
Mattison testified against Warrington.
Shock incarceration includes substance abuse and education programs.
