The Federal CARES Act established the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program, which allowed 13 weeks of additional benefits for people who did not find employment after the allotted 26 weeks of traditional Unemployment Insurance. That program now allows an added 20 weeks after the 13-week PEUC extension is expired. The extension took effect last week.
