Milford Church Fire Suspect Sentenced To Probation
The man accused of setting fire to the Milford United Methodist Church last year has taken a plea deal. According to court records Gerald Althiser of Springfield Center pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted arson and was sentenced to five years probation to be served in a supervised institution because Althiser is developmentally disabled. Police say the fire last March was initially ruled accidental until an investigation into several storage shed fires connected Althiser to the church fire.
