Memorial Day is coming up this Monday and there's no doubt that it will be a very different experience than the usual parades, barbecues, and picnic gatherings we're used to enjoying.  With a pandemic in place and our region only in Phase I of the Governor's NY Forward reopening of the state, we're all left with that let down feeling of not being able to properly observe this holiday weekend.

Don't worry, all is not lost. According to Governor Cuomo, Memorial Day ceremonies for ten people or less are allowed, however, local governments have the ability to say no to that. With the traditional Memorial Day parade off the table, the Governor is encouraging vehicle parades where people are social distancing.

I have a feeling communities will be getting creative to honor our veterans, a very important tradition that we need to find a way to continue to observe without interruption.
