A huge gun rally is expected today in Albany with a number of local people expected to be in attendance. State Senator Jim Seward goes over the reasons why people will gather today at the state capitol.

"To seek the repeal of this legislation," Seward said. "But we're also looking for some amendments to the legislation to make it more workable and reasonable for law-abiding gun owners. Part of the rally will be to drum up support for the legal challenges."

Seward says the NY SAFE Act had great intentions and something is needed but he feels this law is excessive in placing restrictions on law-abiding gun owners in New York State.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch will join the advocates, sportsmen, businesses and constituents in Albany as well. The rally begins at noon in the West Capitol Park.

Crouch says the purpose of the rally is to make it very clear to the governor and legislative leaders that hasty laws that infringe on the rights of law–abiding firearm owners will not be tolerated.

Among those speaking will be NRA president David Keene, the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, scope, county sportsmen federations, sportsmen advocacy groups and elected officials.
