The New York State Labor Department is working on new regulations for workers who are called into to work on short notice. According to governor Cuomo’s office the new rules for so-called “just in time”, “call-in” or “on-call” scheduling would provide for extra pay for those called in at the last minute or who are required to be on standby in case someone doesn’t come in. A public comment period will open later this month and the new regulations are scheduled to take effect in January.
