Oneonta's biggest annual event that typically brings in around 15,000 people from the greater Oneonta area is coming up (you guessed it) on July 4 in Neahwa Park to celebrate our country's independence and the schedule of events has been released by Hill City Celebrations (formerly First Night Oneonta), which organizes and puts on this fun celebration by partnering with Five Star Subaru and Leaf Inc.

This year, Oneonta's Hometown 4th of July is being dedicated to a former Oneonta mayor and wife: the late David Brenner and his wife Lois who passed away back in March.

The 4th of July falls on a Monday this year. Can you say 3-day-weekend?! It's already looking good. The non-alcoholic and free-admission July 4th celebration starts in a big way with a parade down Main St. at 1:00 pm. Any groups or individuals interested in being in the parade can email firstnightoneonta@gmail.com.

Activities in Neahwa Park will run from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm and include plenty of arts, culture, live music, kids' activities, inflatables for kids, arts and crafts, vendors, food, fire spinners and more but more organizations and artisan vendors and businesses are welcomed to get free table space in the park. Either email firstnightoneonta@gmail.come or fill out a contact form at www.hometown4th.com.

Some entertainment to look forward to:

8:00pm - 9:30 pm Driftwood (band)
9:30 pm: Fireworks Display sponsored by Five Star Subaru
10:00 pm - 11:00 pm: Fireworks After Party with Cosmic Karma Fire Spinners and Hanzolo (fusion band from Cooperstown)

This is always a great event for families to enjoy and you can stay up-to-date on changing information about the Hometown 4th on the First Night Oneonta Facebook page.
