It feels like the end of an era along busy Wolf Road.

The Honey Baked Ham store has officially closed its doors for good. The longtime spot, which shared a parking lot with Trader Joe’s, is no longer serving customers. If you call the location, you are greeted with a simple message saying the store is permanently closed.

There has been no official word yet on why the business shut down. According to the Times Union, an email seeking comment was not returned as of Wednesday morning.

For decades, the standalone building at 69 Wolf Road was a familiar stop, especially around the holidays. While the parking lot was often packed thanks to Trader Joe’s shoppers, the Honey Baked Ham storefront itself was usually pretty quiet during regular days.

Where Will We Get Our Holiday Hams?

Still, the store played a big role when it mattered most. Its signature spiral sliced hams were staples for Easter, Thanksgiving, and other gatherings where food brought everyone together.

The company dates back to 1957, when it first opened in Detroit, and has grown to hundreds of locations nationwide. If you are craving one of those classic hams, products are still available online, with the closest store now in Newington, Connecticut.

Will Trader Joe's Expand?

The closure leaves another space in the plaza, which is owned by Trader Joe’s. A neighboring storefront also remains vacant as the company plans a future remodel, though no timeline has been given.
