Take In Upstate New York’s Fall Foliage Like Never Before
Having recently moved to Upstate New York from Southern Arizona, I have been ecstatic to see the fall foliage across the region.
How to take in all the beauty is another question. There's no shortage of incredible ways to spot the gorgeous fall colors, from scenic drives to day-long hikes, but there's one experience in Upstate like no other.
What is Rail Biking?
New York has no shortage of rail lines. Sure, most are still in use for easy commutes across the northeast, but there are a plethora of decommissioned lines that are ripe for adventure. In our case, they're used for rail bike tours across upstate.
Using a pedal-powered car that fits on the tracks, you'll cruise through the mountains and forests of the northeast, getting a glimpse of the season that makes the Capital Region come alive. These tours can vary from an hour or two to a whole day experience, all based on what you want to see.

Rail Tours in Upstate New York
As one of the most stunning areas of America, the Adirondacks have plenty of fall rail biking experiences. Adirondack Rail Bike Adventures have a plethora of experiences, from a six mile trek through Old Forge, to a tour of the Raquette River in Tupper Lake.
Further east, Warren County is home to Revolution Rail, with tours across and around Lake George. North Creek Station and Thurman Station are both excellent spots to check out the autumn leaves, but for those more adventurous, Hadley Run will take you across a 500 foot long, 90 foot high bridge that gives you a birds eye view of the Hudson and Sacandaga rivers.
