Long Lost Time Capsules Found At Capital Region School District
When I was in elementary school, I was told to bring a few, non-important items to class. The reason being, we were going to put them all in a box, and bury it for future classes to see.
Whether that box has been dug up or not is anyone's guess, but they are found sometimes, and likely completely on accident...

What was Lost is Now Found
Unfortunately for many who bury capsules like these, the plots aren't usually marked. This means that finding the time capsule comes down to chance and luck, and it seems the Chatham Central School District had both.
Cleaning and grounds crews for the district were performing some landscape cleaning in front of Chatham Middle School when they found not one but two time capsules from over half a century ago.
What's in the Box (or Tube)?
The two capsules were buried by the seniors at Chatham High School, which is now the site of the middle school. The classes were of 1968 and 1969, and gives us a window into what school was like during the summer of love.
The 1968 capsule had the names of everyone in the class of 1968, as well as a program from their class play, titled: Happiness is "68".
The 1969 capsule had a bit more. It included a History of the Class of 1969, a program for 12 Angry Jurors (the class play), and blueprints for the 1969 yearbook.
Chatham Middle School students will look over the documents in their social studies courses before they are transferred the Chatham High School where they will be preserved with other historic memorabilia from CHS.
