Capital Region Libraries Will Host A Nobel Laureate
There are not many people, living or dead, who have accomplished as much as Malala Yousafzai. The young woman has inspired change across the world since she was 11 years old, and she's continued her outreach year after year.
Now, the Nobel Laureate us bringing that activism and inspiration to the Capital Region.
Who is Malala Yousafzai?
Up until she was 11 years old, Malala was a normal Pakistani girl. That all changed when the Taliban took over her hometown and forbade girls from attending school. In retaliation, she began blogging for BBC, hoping to raise awareness for female education worldwide.
In 2012, at the age of 15, she was shot in the head by the Taliban, only to survive and begin taking her activism even further. Two years after her assassination attempt, she received the Nobel Prize, and in 2020, graduated from the University of Oxford. Though it's been 13 years since she was thrust into international fame, she hasn't stopped spreading her message.
