See Beautiful Fall Folliage on Lake Placid Mountain Coaster
Want to take your fall sightseeing up a notch? How about adding sharp turns, mountain air, and a little screaming?
The Cliffside Coaster at Mount Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid gives you a different way to enjoy the Adirondack scenery. And here is the part I like: you control the speed. So, whether you are all about the thrills or prefer taking things a little slower, you are in charge.
Billed as North America’s longest mountain coaster, the ride comes with some Olympic history, too. On the way up, you will learn about the venue’s past. Then, your coaster winds alongside the historic 1932 and 1980 bobsled track, with twists, turns, and cliffside banks along the way.
Imagine that mountain backdrop while you cruise through the course. Definitely a change from admiring the scenery through your car window.
The posted fall schedule runs Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., through October 31st.
Tickets are $55 per driver and $10 for passengers ages 3 through 12. Military discounts and rates for groups of 20 or more are available.
Solo drivers must be at least 9 years old and 52 inches tall. Passengers must be at least 3 years old and 36 inches tall, accompanied by a driver who is 18 or older. Each sled has a combined weight limit of 300 pounds.
Weather can affect operations, so check conditions before heading out.
Grab your adventure buddy, bring an extra layer, and get ready for a beautiful fall adventure with some speed.
