There are few wars that have had as much of global impact as the American Revolution. Now, that may just seem like I'm saying that because I'M American, but the simple fact of establishing the United States of America has had widespread impacts across the planet.

Memorial Day in 1776

Ever wanted to experience America as it was during this time of war? You've got your chance. Fort Ticonderoga will be hosting a Memorial Day weekend event, in which they reenact weapons demonstrations, music, labor, and daily soldier experiences from the battlefront.

Ticonderoga, famously, was where one of the wars greatest battles took place, and they want to honor that history on the country's 250th anniversary. Events will be taking place all across the fort, from narrated boat cruises to historic trades programs, you can feel, not just see, what life was like as we fought for our independence.

A Demonstration to Remember

There will be plenty of fun and education through the weekend, but it all leads up to Sunday morning. At 11 a.m., Continental Army Soldiers will carry out a Revolutionary Funeral Procession for one of their own, showing us the true meaning of Memorial Day.

The event will run from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24th at 102 Fort Ti Road, Ticonderoga, New York 12883. Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors, $14 for children aged 5-15, and free for children under 5.

You can grab tickets now at the Fort Ticonderoga website.
