Cardona’s Offering Gift Card Exchange for Closed Capital Region Delis
Cardona's Steps Up After Local Businesses Shut Down
Cardona’s Market is stepping up for the Capital Region in a big way.
In light of several beloved local food shops recently closing their doors, Cardona’s, which, in my opinion, is one of the absolute best import stores around, announced a special Gift Card Exchange Program to help customers who were left holding unused gift certificates.
Have Any Unused Gift Certificates?
During March, local residents can bring in gift cards or certificates from Gershon’s Deli in Schenectady, Genoa Importing Co. in Loudonville, or Primal Butcher in Guilderland and Saratoga Springs and exchange them for a $25 in-store credit.
There are three local Cardona’s Market locations: Albany, Latham, and Saratoga Springs.
The program is limited to one exchange per customer and must be redeemed during a single store visit. The $25 credit must be used in full at the time of purchase and does not apply to online catering orders.
Program Ends at the End of March
The exchange program runs through March 31, 2026, giving customers a chance to turn those unused gift cards into something delicious.

Cardona’s, which has been serving the Capital Region for generations, is known for its incredible selection of Italian imports, fresh meats, prepared foods, and specialty items. For many locals, it’s the kind of neighborhood market that feels just as much like a tradition as it does a grocery store.
While the closures of Gershon’s, Genoa Importing, and Primal Butcher were tough news for food lovers across the region, Cardona’s thoughtful gesture is a reminder that the Capital Region’s local food community still has each other’s backs.
And if you’ve got one of those unused gift cards tucked away somewhere, don't let them go to waste.
March might be the perfect time to finally put it to good use.
