Earth Week in Troy

In 1970, the United States launched their first ever "Earth Day" on April 22nd, meant to inspire communities to get out, and give back to nature. Now the City of Troy is celebrating more than a day, they're celebrating Earth Week.

From Monday, April 20th to Sunday, April 26th, Troy will be hosting Community Cleanups, dedicated to cleaning up the city we call home, and letting Mother Earth breathe a little. Residents, neighborhood groups, and community organizations are all invited to clean up trash and debris around the city all through the week.

How Can You Join?

The city asks that you register your cleanup in advance at troyny.gov/earth-week. For those who will be participating in a cleanup, equipment will be provided for you, including two litter pickers per group, trash bags, leaf bags, and gloves.

You can pick up your gear from April 13th to April 17th from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Department of Public Works Garage, located at 40 Orr Street. All ages are invited to help out, so invite your families, friends, roommates, and whoever else to help make Troy a greener, healthier place to live.

For any questions about the program, please reach out to Jack Kissinger, the city's Sustainability Coordinator at Jack.Kissinger@troyny.gov.
