Capital Region Applebee’s to Permanently Close
It feels like every time we turn around lately, another familiar restaurant is calling it quits in the Capital Region. After watching local delis close and chain spots like Carrabba’s and Denny’s shut down, we now have to add another name to the list. This time it is Applebee’s.
The Applebee’s at 268 Saratoga Road in Glenville is set to close for good in April. If you have ever grabbed a casual dinner there or met friends for appetizers, you might want to plan one last visit. The final day of service will be Sunday, April 12th.
The local franchise owner shared appreciation for the Glenville community, saying they are thankful for the support over the past decade and hope guests will continue visiting their other Capital Region locations. They also confirmed that employees and managers were allowed to transfer to nearby restaurants, which is welcome news for the staff.

The company that owns Applebee’s has acknowledged that franchise owners across the country have been dealing with higher operating costs, including fuel, utilities, and food prices. Those rising expenses have made it tougher for some locations to stay open.
If you are still craving those familiar menu favorites, several nearby spots remain open, including locations in Schenectady, Saratoga Springs, Queensbury, Latham, Rensselaer, and Johnstown. For now, those neighborhood tables are still ready and waiting.
