The Best Cidery In America Is In Upstate New York

Having lived in the northeast for over a year now, I've become quite fond of cider and all that it entails. When the leaves start to change in the fall, i find the nearest cidery and go to town.

There are plenty of great cideries in the Capital Region, but a quick drive out west can take you to the best in America...

Where are America's Best Cideries?

It's become a yearly tradition, USAToday has released their list of the best cideries in America, voted on by their readers. Ten cideries were selected for this year, but only one could take the top spot.

The runner-up cideries are:

• #9: Stem Ciders (Lafayette, CO)
• #8: Vermont Cider Lab (Essex, VT)
• #7: OK Cider Co. (Oklahoma City, OK)
• #6: Gypsy Circus Cider Company (Kingsport, TN)
• #5: Cider Corps (Mesa, AZ)
• #4: Excursion Ciders (Kimberton, PA)
• #3: Urban Orchard Cider Company (Asheville, NC)
• #2: James Creek Cider House (Cameron, NC)

Who is Number One?

Aside from Vermont Cider Lab, none of these are remotely close to the northeast, despite cider being a very northeastern delicacy. Well, they had to save all the room for the number one spot, which goes to (drum roll please):

Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard!

This fantastic cidery is located in Fly Creek, NY (shocker), and has been operating since the 1850s. They provide both food and drink, especially their home-brewed cider, which you can get in either alcoholic or non-alcoholic form.

It ranked in at #3 in 2025, #1 in 2024, and was the runner-up for best apple orchard in 2023.
