Albany High School Implements TSA-esque Security
I went to high school in a little town in the sticks just outside of Atlanta. For the most part, it was like every other high school in the deep south. Sure, it saw its fair share of incidents, but nothing out of the ordinary.
So imagine my surprise when an old classmate sent me a video of the school today, forcing every student to go through metal detectors and bag checks to enter the school. Albany seems to have picked up the same idea.

Changes Coming to Albany High
On November 21st, Albany High School announced a massive change was coming to their school. New security procedures would be implemented for students at the beginning of every day, starting on December 10th.
These procedures involve new walk-through and bag screening process, very similar to what you experience when you walk through TSA. The new system was installed in just two days, and was ready for launch first thing in the morning on the 10th.
What Do Students and Parents Need to Know?
When students arrive to school in the morning, they're asked to have all personal items in their backpack, with absolutely nothing in their pockets. If they don't have a bag, security will offer them a tray for their belongings.
After this, they'll place their bags on a belt, which scans their bag, while they walk through a scanner of their own. If the walk-through for some reason detects something, the students will be hand-scanned to ensure they're not a safety risk. Security will not search bags by hand unless the bag scanner determines it's necessary.
