Truck Accident Makes A Mess on New York State Thruway

It is never fun to be traveling on the New York State Thruway and come up on an accident. I can't imagine rolling up on the scene that happened this morning, just North of the Route 23 A overpass at around mile marker 110 on the northbound side of the Thruway.

Two Trucks Collide on New York State Thruway Monday Morning

According to a report from this morning that was shared by the Catskill Fire Company, Inc., just before 5 AM, they were dispatched to an accident on the New York State Thruway, which appeared to have possible serious injuries. Reports coming in included people trapped.

After looking at the photos from the accident scene, I can see why anyone driving up on it would think that the occupants of the vehicles involved could have been seriously injured. The good news is that when the first responder arrived at the accident site, it appeared that both accident victims were out of their trucks and able to walk around.

Reports that people were trapped with possible serious injuries turned out not to be the case for both of these lucky truck drivers. The Catskill Fire Company shared in their social media post about the accident that it appears one truck traveling north on the New York State Thruway collided with a second Truck.

Catskill Fire Company Responded to Truck Accident on New York State Thruway

The Catskill Fire Company did have other first responders on standby, which included Centerville Cedar Grove because of their heavy rescue abilities. Once it was determined that everyone was out of the trucks, Centerville was called off.

For people traveling north, the good news was that because there was no entrapment, they were able to keep one lane open, according to the reports shared by Catskill Fire Company. I can't imagine being someone who drove by looking at the aftermath. It would be hard to believe no one was seriously hurt.

New York State Police Are Investigating a Monday Morning Truck Accident

The Catskill Fire Company also noted that it took about an hour before they were able to turn the site over to New York State Thruway Maintenance. They also mentioned that the New York State Police are still investigating the cause. They mentioned that they have no comment about that, and also wanted to acknowledge that County 911 did a great job updating responders to the scene.
