Targeted Shooting at Barbershop in Orange County, NY

A teenage employee was shot multiple times while working inside a barbershop in Middletown, NY.

The City of Middletown Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that took place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, just after 5 p.m. at a barbershop located on West Main Street.

According to police, it all started on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 5:16 PM, when the City of Middletown Police Department (MPD) was dispatched to a reported shooting that had just occurred at the 6 West Barbershop, located at 6 West Main Street in Middletown, NY.

Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male who reportedly sustained three gunshot wounds to his back. The unidentified victim was conscious and alert, and able to speak with officers and medical personnel according to police. He was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center by Empress Ambulance, where he remains in stable condition.

Shooting Investigation in Orange County, NY

Once the victim was removed from the scene, the City of Middletown Detective Division began its investigation, which revealed that the teenage victim was a new employee of the barbershop and was working inside when a male suspect walked into the barbershop through the front door and began to discharge several rounds from a black handgun at the victim.

Police said that following the shooting, the male suspect, who was wearing all black and a camouflaged balaclava-style mask, fled the barbershop on foot, eastbound on West Main Street. He proceeded to get on a black electric scooter parked on South Street and traveled south on South Street, then onto Washington Street.

Police said the investigation led them to the upper portion of Washington Street, near Prospect Avenue, but the suspect was not located.

Targeted Shooting?

MPD officers believe that this was a targeted shooting, as several other people were inside the barbershop when the shooting occurred, but were not shot at or injured. At this time, no arrests have been made, but MPD is continuing to canvass the area for surveillance footage and other evidence related to the shooting.
