Hudson Valley Burger King Forced to Change Its Name Again
A longtime Burger King location in the Hudson Valley has gone through another major change after rebranding earlier this year, with the restaurant now operating under a new name and a menu that looks a little different.
Burger King Sues Hudson Valley Location
If you've driven past the Spring Valley Market Place in Rockland County, you may remember the Burger King that had been serving customers there for years. Back in August, the longtime location at 160 Spring Valley Market Place in Spring Valley made headlines after dropping the Burger King name and reopening as Jumbo King Burger.

The change was part of an effort by longtime owner Ranjana Jethwa to keep the family business going after financial and legal issues involving the fast-food chain. Now, the restaurant has undergone another name change following a legal dispute with Burger King.
The restaurant is now called Jumbo Burger, and the changes extend beyond the sign out front.
Why the Hudson Valley Burger King Changed Its Name
Jethwa and her family had owned the Spring Valley location for approximately 20 years, according to News 12. Following her husband's death, she said financial and legal issues involving Burger King and a mortgage company forced her to make some difficult decisions to keep the business alive.

When the restaurant first became Jumbo King Burger in August, Jethwa said the employees remained the same, while the menu introduced changes, including bigger burgers. "I have to survive. In order for me to survive, I had to do this," she told News 12.
However, the situation took another turn after Burger King filed a civil case against Jethwa earlier this month. The legal action prohibits her from using the word "King" and selling hamburgers for one year. The restrictions stem from a non-compete clause in her previous agreement with the fast-food chain.
As a result, Jethwa had to make another change, dropping "King" from the restaurant's name and rebranding it as Jumbo Burger.

The Restaurant Is Still Open, But the Menu Has Changed
Despite the legal challenges, Jethwa says she isn't giving up on the business. The Spring Valley restaurant remains open, but customers will notice that the menu now focuses mostly on chicken rather than the burgers that made Burger King famous.
Jethwa also operates two former Burger King locations in New Jersey, and the legal dispute affects all three of her restaurant locations. Despite the challenges, she has made it clear that she plans to keep moving forward, telling News 12 that her goal is to succeed and eventually make it to "Shark Tank."
