A Hudson Valley community is mourning the loss of a 14-year-old girl who tragically passed away last week.

Last week, we learned that the community in Goshen was mourning the death of a student who attended a school in the Goshen Central School District. The district announced the death, sharing a message with families and the community and describing the day as a “solemn, difficult day” for students, staff, and faculty.

According to her obituary, 14-year-old Riley Morgan Neil died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The cause of death was not released, but Riley’s family and friends are remembering the young girl who they say had a smile that could light up a room.

Riley was described as fearless and determined from the very beginning. She taught herself how to ride a bike, swim, and roller skate, carrying that same determination into everything she did.
