Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a local dog rescue. However this organization has a unique set up.

They are a foster-based rescue, meaning they don't have a physical shelter. Volunteers open up their homes to dogs and cats as they begin their journey to find their forever home.

Being volunteer and foster based brings its financial challenges. With that being said TMHPR is working for another great cause in hopes of being rewarded a big prize.

Local Animal Rescue Collecting Gently Used Shoes

Take Me Home Pet Rescue is hoping you can donate your gently warn shoes for a great cause.

No, it's not for the foster pups to chew on.

Take Me Home Pet Rescue is currently working with Funds2Orgs where they will collect "gently used shoes that will be given to third world countries."

The goal is to fill 100 bags. These bags can fit 25 pairs of shoes. According to TMHPR "If we achieve our goal, our rescue will be awarded $1,000."

Take Me Home Pet Rescue Goes Viral

In March of 2025, a viral video brough a ton of attention to Take Me Home Pet Rescue.

A photographer was doing some thrifting in Dutchess County and came across a bunch of prints and photos of a Golden Retriever. On one of the photos was the dogs name, which was Emily.

The photographer, Lindsay Lazare, shared the photos on social media and the video took off with thousands of views instantly. Lazare learned that the dog was owned by a man named Joseph DeBlanca.
