A Kingston police officer was taken to the hospital Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic in Ulster County.

Police officers across the Hudson Valley are the ones we call when we need help. They have the type of job that comes with all kinds of situations they have to deal with. There's the criminal side, speeding enforcement, community events, and, of course, directing traffic.

Unfortunately, all of those things come with risks. After what happened in Kingston this week, it's a good reminder that we all need to use extra caution when we see an officer standing in the road.
