A late-night hit-and-run in Kingston has left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries, and now police are asking for the public's help as they work to identify the driver responsible.

According to the City of Kingston Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Broadway and Liberty Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found the victim seriously injured. The pedestrian was initially taken to Health Alliance Hospital before being transferred to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where they remain hospitalized while recovering from what police described as serious physical injuries.

Driver Flees Scene After Striking Pedestrian

Investigators say the driver never stopped after hitting the pedestrian and instead fled the scene. At this time, police have not released a description of the vehicle or the driver, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Hit-and-run crashes like this are especially frustrating because they leave victims not only dealing with serious injuries but also searching for answers about who was responsible. Police are hopeful someone in the community saw something that could help identify the driver.
