What Are the Rudest Towns in the Hudson Valley?
Do these Hudson Valley towns need an attitude adjustment?
If you've lived in the Hudson Valley long enough, chances are you've run into someone who made you shake your head and wonder what their problem was. Maybe it was a driver who refused to let you merge, someone who acted like they were better than everyone else, or a person who apparently never learned the meaning of the words "please" and "thank you."
We've all encountered people like that, but it got me thinking: What towns in the Hudson Valley have the rudest people?

A few years ago, we put together a list of five Hudson Valley towns that many people agreed were among the rudest in the region. You can see that list from 2022 below, but before you scroll down, let me remind you that a lot has changed over the last few years, right?
Rudest Towns in the Hudson Valley, NY
When we originally put the list together, I explained that one of the ways I try to determine whether a town has rude people is by attending my kids' sporting events. You can really learn a lot about a town by watching how parents behave at games. Some parents get so worked up that they end up in full-blown screaming matches!
Beacon, Wappingers Falls, Washingtonville, and Spring Valley all have some pretty vocal parents... LOL!

Of course, you can't judge an entire town based on that or a few bad experiences. There are plenty of great people throughout the Hudson Valley, and being rude isn't something that belongs to just one community. Still, every town has its own personality, and some places might be more likely to spark a heated debate when it comes to attitudes and behavior.

Which Hudson Valley Towns Could Make the List?
Let's start with Beacon. The popular Dutchess County city has become a destination for shopping, restaurants, and weekend visitors. But with its popularity comes crowds, traffic, and plenty of opportunities for people to get on each other's nerves. Don't believe me? Try walking up and down Main Street on a weekend... LOL! Does Beacon have an attitude problem, or is it just dealing with growing pains?
Then there's Rhinebeck, a village known for its charming downtown, upscale shops, and restaurants. Could its fancy reputation make some people feel like certain residents are a little too full of themselves?
Millbrook could also enter the conversation. Known for its beautiful properties and upscale atmosphere, the village might be a target for jokes about wealthy people who think they're better than everyone else. Of course, that's a stereotype, not a reflection of the people who actually live there.
And what about Poughkeepsie and Newburgh? With busy roads, daily commutes, and plenty of people trying to get where they need to go, both cities offer plenty of opportunities for the occasional case of road rage or an unpleasant encounter.
Is It the Town or the People?
Maybe the real question isn't which Hudson Valley town has the rudest people, but what kinds of behavior drive us crazy the most.
Is it the person who cuts you off in traffic and then gives you a dirty look? The shopper who gets angry at a cashier over something that isn't their fault? Or the person who treats restaurant workers, store employees, or strangers like they're beneath them?
Personally, I think how someone treats other people says a lot more about them than the town they call home.
Still, that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun with the question.
