Regal Cinemas Honor Dolly Parton With Special Tribute Weekend in the Hudson Valley

It feels like everyone has been mourning the loss of American cultural icon Dolly Parton.

The Queen of country music passed away at the age of 80 back on August 25th, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Over the last few weeks many organizations, artists and businesses have honored Dolly in their own way.

Now we can add Regal Cinemas to the list. Regal is hosting a Dolly Parton Tribute Weekend from Friday September 4th, 2026 through September 9th. On their website they write:

Join Regal in celebrating Dolly Parton's legacy and see her two classic films for just $9.25: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Steel Magnolias. All proceeds will go to Dolly's childhood literacy foundation, The Imagination Library through the Regal Foundation.

 

Hudson Valley Regal Cinemas Take Part in Dolly Parton Tribute Weekend

The Dolly Parton Tribute Weekend at first was just scheduled for the Regal Cinema located in Nashville.

However, fans across the U.S. begged for local showings in their towns and Regal came through.

It looks like the Regal Cinemas at the Poughkeepsie Galleria  and at the Galleria Crystal Run in Middletown will be showing Steel Magnolias on September 4th, 6th and 8th and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on September 5th, 7th and 9th.

Dolly Parton Hudson Valley Ties

Did you know Dolly Parton made a few stops in the Hudson Valley in the beginning of her career?

Back in on August 15th, 1969 Dolly performed at the Delaware County Fair. According to the Delaware County Historical Association, while Dolly was performing at the fair, there was another big musical event going on a few miles away.

That same weekend, the historic Woodstock Music Festival was taking place in Sullivan County.

Years later in 1975 Dolly performed for a large crowd at Sullivan Community College.
