Poughkeepsie Galleria Announces Big New Addition

Over the weekend the Poughkeepsie Galleria took to social media to make a big announcement.

In a video post they announced that they will be opening a Dick's Sporting Goods House Of Sport.

It looks like Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sport will open where the bottom level of JCPenney used to be.

The new addition is set to open in, wait for it, 2029.

The comment section had some fun regarding the opening date with one person writing "Spring 2029? Thanks for the heads up. I’ll start driving there now."

So why the long wait? Well, we don't have any officials answers, but we're learning all about Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sport and it sounds big.

What is Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sport All About?

So we know what Dick's Sporting Goods is what, but what is this House of Sport portion all about?

Think a massive sports playground.

According to RetailDive.com, Dick's House of Sport locations range in size from 100,000 to 150,000 square feet which double the size of standard stores.

House of Sport locations are designed to be interactive, where customers can test out equipment before they buy the product.

Key features of current House of Sport locations include an outdoor turf field, that is used for community clinics and workouts. At some locations it transforms to an ice rink during the winter months.

Other features include multi-sport cages for baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer, a climbing wall and golf simulators.

Plus, they have "experts" on site to help with custom fittings for golf clubs, bike repairs, racquet stringing, and baseball glove steaming.

We'll have to wait and see what features the Poughkeepsie Galleria location will provide.

Needless to say we're excited for Spring 2029.

What's New at The Poughkeepsie Galleria?

The Poughkeepsie Galleria has been adding new shops to their roster over the last few weeks and months.

Recently, a brand new Wendy's location opened up downstairs across from 110 Grill.

In April Sneak Peak 518 opened upstairs next to Yankee Candle. There you can "Shop, sell and trade with brands like Godspeed, Vale, Jordan, Nike, & YEEZY."
