Each week, I recap in a short form, some of the important local news we reported on 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM along with our WNBF website and WNBF mobile app.

Want To Be In A Dick's Sporting Good's Commercial?
(Don Morgan) Dick's Sporting Goods, who began their amazing journey right here in the Binghamton area is having a commercial produced that will highlight its local roots. The production company 'Casting Double' is heading up the initiative, looking for local people the upcoming campaign.

The Binghamton Film Office notes that the Little League players who are chosen for the roles will be featured in a real game with another local Little League team. Dates for the shoot will be May 31st, and June 1st. For more on this story, click here.

From Milk To Apartments
(Bob Joseph) As plan is in place to develop housing and commercial space in the former Crowley Foods plant on Binghamton's South Side, converting the space on Conklin Avenue into 48 market-rate apartments.

Commercial space in the building will be on the ground floor. The apartments will be on the second and third floors and the developer suggested possibly a restaurant or a microbrewing establishment as well. For more on this story, click here.

Courtside Bar & Grill To Replace The Colonial
(Bob Joseph) A local developer has signed a lease for the space that had been occupied by The Colonial at 56-58 Court Street, to develop it into more of a sports bar type atmosphere. Get complete details here.

Broome County Seeks Input on Housing Needs
Broome County has launched a public survey to gather information about local housing needs. This information will support development of strategies as part of a countywide plan to address housing challenges in Broome County. For more information, click here.

Fatal Collision in Delaware County
From the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, a report of a two car motor vehicle collision on May 22nd, resulted in one vehicle catching on fire and another vehicle with an entrapped person within.

One of the vehicle operators was deceased at the scene, the other driver was was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. No further information on the condition of that driver. For details, click here.

Binghamton Police Foot Patrols Increase
(Bob Joseph) More police officers will be walking throughout Binghamton as part of a community policing initiative. It's part of the effort to reduce gun violence and to respond to growing concerns over crime in neighborhoods. Get more details here.

Radar Speed Signs Popping Up Throughout Binghamton
(Bob Joseph) You may have noticed newly-installed electronic speed display signs around the City of Binghamton. Ten signs have been put up in recent weeks according to Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham. A pilot program that started with one sign on Pennsylvania Avenue appeared to work well, so the initiative was expanded. Get complete details here.
